13 Ways to Look at a Blackbird:
This poem is one of those poems where you just keep looking at it and you still don't know what to think about it. I guess reading between the lines (or not looking at it literally) really helps to understand the poem. At first I thought I thought that the poem maybe had something to do with war, but I couldn't really back it up. Then someone in the class thought it was like the circle of life and she explained it and if you re-read it with that in mind it does kind of make sense. I really liked how it was broken down into 13 stanzas, I thought that was really effective to make the reader think about eachone as its self.
Yeah, that was definitely a crazy poem. XD I mean, I liked it, but it was very ambiguous too. Nice interpretation, btw.
ReplyDeleteThis poem made me go nuts. No matter how many times I read it, I felt like I just couldn't get it. But like you said, after a while, when people were sharing their thoughts, it started to make sense. Nice post Jacie! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, after reading this poem I was completely lost. I didn't really even try to interpret it, because I've never been very good at analyzing poetry, but if you read it again it does seem like it could represent the circle of life, but I guess we'll never know for sure.
